Attributed to John Frederick Herring, Sr. (England, 1795-1865) oil on canvas genre painting depicting a couple attending to their livestock within a barnyard interior surrounded by foodstuffs and numerous farm animals, including quail, chickens, a goat being nudged by a white horse, and a cat lying upon the back of a saddled black horse with an open archway to pigs in the farmyard in the left background. Housed in an ebonized wooden frame with gilt sight edge. Unsigned. Sight: 22 7/8" H x 30 7/8" W. Framed: 31 1/4" H x 39" W.
