Description
English Regency Classical Egyptian Revival mirror, rectangular form flanked by two Egyptian herms, frieze decorated with classical scene on black background, broken pediment with scrolling, crosshatching, and medallion decoration topped with and acanthus leaf finials. Label for British firm "W. Gould & Son" and later label for American firm "J. F. Cabot & Brothers" en verso. 56" H x 65 3/4" W x 5 5/8" D. Early 19th Century. Note: The stylized "S" found on the W. Gould & Son label helps date this work circa 1810-1820.

Condition
Broken lattice pediment and urn finials appear to be early 20th century additions. Mirror with light oxidation and large area of loss to silvering in lower center. Scattered areas of restoration and gilt loss. Frieze with restored paint to background.
