[Barleti (Marin)] The Historie of George Castriot, surnamed Scanderbeg, King of Albanie, first and only edition in English, translated by Zachary Jones, engraved portrait frontispiece inserted from another work, previous owner's ink signature to title, lacking initial blank and free endpapers, trimmed, occasionally affecting head-lines, K6 with small marginal paper defect not affecting text, 2RG with marginal paper defect affecting odd letter, S1 with small marginal hole affecting odd letter, small marginal loss to last few leaves, one or two marginal notes in varying hands, scattered spotting and staining, near contemporary calf, crudely rebacked, slight bumping to corners and extremities, [STC 15318], folio, for William Ponsonby, 1596.

⁂ Although not called for, other copies at auction have also had engraved portraits inserted as frontispieces.

The work includes a prefatory sonnet by Edmund Spenser ('Upon the historie of George Castriot.')
