Voyages.- Hakluyt (Richard) [The principall navigations, voiages and discoveries of the English nation, made by sea or ouer land, to the most remote and farthest distant quarters of the earth at any time within the compasse of these 1500. yeeres], first edition, black letter, woodcut head-pieces and historiated or decorative initials, X4 blank, 2X5-2Y6 cancelled and replaced with 2Y1-6 (second state of Bowes' embassy to Russia) , lacking map (as often), title, S6, 2P6 and 4F2-4 (the last blank), without the unpaginated leaves relating to Drake at p.642, upper margins of preliminaries little frayed, 4F1 repaired hole at head, with loss of text, the odd tear (without loss), some spotting and staining, lightly browned, modern calf, with earlier blind-stamped panelled calf covers and a rather worn spine (with modern leather label) laid down, these earlier pieces chipped, rubbed and scuffed, [Sabin 29594; Hill 743; PMM 105 (second edition); STC 12625], small folio, [By George Bishop and Ralph Newberie, deputies to Christopher Barker], [1589]. sold not subject to return.
