Condition
The portfolio includes an introductory text in Italian, table of contents and justification page, but is missing Plate I – La joie de vivre. The full sheets, in overall good condition.
In addition to the catalogue entry:
- most sheets with pale time staining and scattered pinpoint foxing in the margins recto and verso
- soft handling creases in places in the margins and sheet corners
Further condition details of the plates:
Plate II – with a pale moisture stain at the lower centre sheet edge
Plate VI – a short 5mm. tear with associated creasing at the extreme lower right sheet edge
Plate VIII – with a semi-circular area of foxing to the upper centre sheet edge
Plate IX – with two punctures to the right and centre upper sheet edge; two further indents to the centre left sheet edge
Plate XVIII – the sheet with light-staining and associated foxing to the margins, with remnants of white tack at the lower left sheet verso
Plate XIX – a 10cm. diagonal scratch to the lower right of the image into the margin, two further creases to the lower right corner
Plate XX – with two creases at the lower right corner, a further crease to the left lower margin
The paper covered folder with extensive foxing and the folio case with surface dirt and showing signs of wear.
