George Dewey "Practical Prevention of War" Naval Tract
7pp, measuring 5.75" x 9", No place, undated. A Naval tract entitled "Practical Prevention of War", produced by the Gibson Bros. and published by permission of the New York Journal. Includes a letter to the Editor, W.R. Hearst, written by Dewey. The bulk of the text was written by W.W. Kimball. Green paper wraps, with the title printed in black ink on the front. The booklet has uneven toning to the internal pages. Minor chipping to the cover edges, along with bumped corners. There is a small pencil notation within. Overall, very good.
George Dewey (1837-1917) was an Admiral of the Navy, being the only U.S. citizen to have achieved that rank. He served in the Civil War as well as the Spanish-American War, and is best known for his outstanding victory at the Battle of Manila Bay, in which he lost only one member of his crew.
