Tim Tate (American, b. 1960) & Marc Petrovic (American, b. 1967) Envy, from the 'Seven Deadly Sins' Series, 2010 Blown and cast glass, found objects, video, electrified 19 x 7 x 7 inches (48.3 x 17.8 x 17.8 cm) PROVENANCE: Habatat Gallery, Royal Oak, Michigan; Rago, Lambertville, New Jersey, Modern Ceramics & Glass, January 21, 2018, lot 1625. EXHIBITED: Museum of Art and Design, New York. Tim Tate is co-founder of the Washington Glass Studio in Washington, D.C., and has taught at Penland School of Craft, North Carolina. He is known for work that blends traditional craft with new media technology. Tate's work is in the permanent collections of a number of museums, including the Smithsonian's American Art Museum. He has been the recipient of many awards including a Fulbright Award from Sunderland, University of England, among others. Marc Petrovic obtained a B.F.A. in glass from the Cleveland Institute of Art, where he is a Professor and Chairman of the glass department. His work combines glass, metal, and wood that reflects a love of the natural world and interest in identity. His work can be seen in numerous museum collections such as the Corning Museum of Glass, New York; the Museum of Art and Design, New York; the Tacoma Museum of Glass, Washington; and the Niijima Museum of Glass, Japan.
