David Bennett (American, b. 1941) Dancer - Salmon/Rose, 2005 Blown glass, bronze 34 x 15 x 18 inches (86.4 x 38.1 x 45.7 cm) Signed by the artist PROVENANCE: Hodgell Gallery, Sarasota, Florida; Hindman, Chicago, Illinois, Palm Beach Collections, September 16, 2020, lot 67. David Bennett studied in France and Murano, Italy, as well as the Pilchuck Glass School, before establishing his glass studio in Washington State where he lives and works. Bennett's works such as Flyer, 2007, expand the technical process of blowing glass into metal. Glass is blown into metal structures that act as a cage for his animated and playful figures that are infused with the motion of glass. Bennett's works are included in several international museum collections including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Daiichi Museum, Nagoya, Japan; and the Museo del Vidro, Monterey, Mexico. Since 1998 David Bennett has been President and/or on the Board of Trustees of the Pilchuck Glass School.
