Description
During the exhibition "ORIGINS", held by Cyprus Art Gallery in Sant Feliu de Boada, Girona, on 31 July 1995, paying homage to the primitive artist, the participating artists were given a tribal work of art to create a copy in their own way. As part of the lot we have the pleasure to show, the artist Eduald Serra created the sculpture "Forma i Espai" from his reinterpretation of a "Samban", or suspension hook. This kind of hooks were classic objects from the Sepik region and were used to protect nets or food from animals or dampness on the ground. This Samban, which represents an ancestral deity, was acquired at the exhibition, in which artists such as Eduardo Chillida, Sergio Aguilar, Andreu Alfaro, Frederic Amat, Eduardo Arroyo, Modest Cuixart, Luis Gordillo, Josep Guinovart, Hernández Pijuan and Riera i Aragó participated. The drawing of the Sepic hook by André Bretón was acquired later, and it completes this lot."CROQUIS DE UN BRONCE", ca. 1954. 1954.
