Description
American Civil War pewter ID disc belonging to Private Abram Hull, of Company D, 148th Pennsylvania Infantry. Obverse of disc presents bust portrait of Major General McClellan facing right. Reverse of disc presents "The War of 1861, '62 and '63" cast at edge with center stamped lettering "ABRAM HULL CO-D 148-REGT PA-V CALDWALDS BRIGADE CENTER CO PA". Disc measures 1.35" in diameter. Surface of badge exhibits toned patina with jump ring hole exhibiting slight bend and wear. Abram Hull (1820-1864) enlisted and was mustered into Company D, of the 148th Pennsylvania Infantry regiment on August 28, 1862. He was killed by a sharpshooter at the battle of Reams Station, Virginia on August 25, 1864. Hull was buried on the battlefield. Disc is accompanied by folder of research related to Private Hull.
