Description
Disability (from the BerlinJungle series), 2019
Acrylic on canvas. Signed lower left and inscribed Lindemann (canvas manufacturer) on the verso. 160x 130 cm.
Provenance: Acquired directly from the artist, Private Collection Europe
Note: Born in 1977, DYNE has been working 'site specifically' on previously selected places, walls and objects in public space since the 1990s. Without a doubt, his roots and inspiration can be found in American hip-hop culture, graffiti and other young, urban forms of expression such as breakdancing. Berlin was the European city that, due to its very specific status, was considered an incubator for the creative forms of expression in the urban environment in the early 90s. In fact, an essential part of DYNE's street art is the constant development of his style. There are also influences that can certainly be seen in the art itself: for example, the paintings of the late New Yorker J.M. Basquiat or even Picasso's unbridled desire to create. Above all, however, it is the metropolis of Berlin in and of itself, the constant change of the city, that poses an impulsive artistic challenge. Due to his own history, DYNE - like Banksy, by the way - is someone who prefers to operate underground and let his art speak. Nevertheless, it has always been possible to inspire him for special and international exhibition projects and to show his works extensively.
