Provenance
Property from the Estate of Mark Smith, Lynchburg, Virginia
Overall in very good vintage condition, with light surface wear commensurate with age and use. The Weller pottery items free of breaks and repairs, some light scuffing and wear to occasional edges, the smaller amphora vase with a few small losses to the glaze at the base rim. The Hampshire lamp base similarly free of breaks; no chips or losses; some surface accumulation over glaze; the shade sturdy and intact with original leading; generally clean with a few of the smaller glass elements cracked; wiring untested and with broken cord switch. The floor vase with crazing concentrated mainly to the lower half of the vase; the vase drilled for drainage (apparently at time of production) and raised atop shallow unglazed pad feet; one large hairline crack radiating from drill hole; scattered overall scuffs and scratches to glaze; moderate chipping to edge of base rim; some slight pitting to rolled top of vase neck; no breaks or repairs. The pendant lamp in fair vintage condition with original leading intact; areas of cracked glass concentrated to the lower panels of the shade brim, particularly at the corners where inward pressure was applied to the brim; the balance of the glass intact with a few scattered cracks to smaller elements; the shade overall sturdy; general heavy surface soil accumulation, particularly to lead joints and metal elements.
