1) Asparagus
The paper is slightly toned overall, with some light, mat and time staining. All four edges are deckled. There is some slight discoloration to edges in varying degrees throughout. There are some more obvious scattered areas of staining to the right edge and top edge, the largest is near the top center. This is outside of the image area and unobtrusive. A few scattered areas of small losses along margin edges, including a small tear to left margin. Again, unobtrusive and does not affect overall stability. Slight undulation to paper, near bottom of lemon and tops of asparagus. There is also some evidence of a few small scratches in top right corner of image. Verso is toned overall with scattered spots of discoloration – possible foxing- throughout. Stamp verso reads “This original mezzotint was specially made in 1957, by Yozo Hamaguchi for members of the Print and Drawing Club of the Art Institute of Chicago”.
Frame 1: 20 3/8 x 26 1/2 x 1 1/4 in.
2) Tricot
In overall very good condition. Paper is slightly toned and has minor light and time staining. Some scattered tiny spots of possible foxing in the margins, but this does not affect the image area. One or two small scattered areas of slight discoloration probably due to handling, including a small smudge to left edge (see Specialist photos for detailed shots). The paper is hinged verso in the top left and right corners with tape. All four edges are deckled.
Frame 2: 22 1/4 x 28 7/8 x 1 5/8 in.
