A Gold Lacquer Four-Case Inrō
Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century
Of oval profile with applied cord runners, decorated in gold, silver, and colored hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with shell detail and gold kirigane accents against a dense gold hirame ground, depicting on one side a stag and doe in front of a hagi (Lespedeza bicolor) bush by a stream under a crescent moon and on the other with a female courtier's carriage under a maple tree, signed Yōyūsai ; ojime lacquer
