RARE CHINESE SONG / YUAN DYNASTY POTTERY BUDDHIST ZODIAC JAR. Decorated with appliquŽs comprising six lotus leaf panels containing human figures and the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. Moulded vajra (Buddhist sceptre) appliquŽs around the shoulder. Complete with cover which is decorated with an incised geometric pattern. Yunnan province. c.12th Ð 14th Century. Height 24cm.
Provenance: from the collection of the late Brian Page (1938-2018), the well-known Oriental art and antiques dealer from Brighton.
