Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chancay, ca. 1300 to 1450 CE A very large and carefully made gauze textile panel comprised of camelid (alpaca or llama) threads of azure blue, tawny almond, and creamy white hues, woven and knotted (somewhat akin to tatting) into a repeated striated pattern. The textiles of Peru demonstrate immense artistic and technical developments achieved by the Andean civilizations. Size (textile): 13.625" W x 11.25" H (34.6 cm x 28.6 cm); (frame): 17.25" W x 14.8" H (43.8 cm x 37.6 cm)
