All Quiet on the Western Front is a 20th-century novel by Erich Maria Remarque. This book describes German soldiers during World War I and their extreme despair and mental stresses, and while it was written by a German soldier, it was banned, and copies were burned by the Nazi regime.
This book became immensely popular both in and outside of Germany and was published in 22 different languages, including English. This 1929 first American edition was published in Boston and states first printing on the copyright page. Features the English translation of A.W. Wheen, which was translated directly out of the original German.
