Provenance: A Utopia, Texas collection
David Sanders gained fame for his beautiful oil pastel scenes of Native Americans and the landscapes of the American West. Sanders originally trained at Southwest Texas State University to become a commercial artist, but quickly came into demand for portrait commissions, and so immediately began working as a fine artist. He was one of the twelve founders of the Texas Association of Professional Artists, and in 1975 held a one-man exhibition of his paintings at the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum in Canyon, Texas.
