Description

Antique Pair of Faux Pearl Hair Comb/Barrettes, Early 1900's. 5.5mm faux pearls on to the top of the combs with twisted wire combs. Age is estimated 1800's to apx. 1920's. The faux pearls are wired to the top of the comb. The combs are just short of 2.5" wide and 1,25: tall. The finish on the pearls does have some wear but they can be touched up with pearl enameling. Otherwise they are in good condition for their age and hold when worn. They are not signed or marked. When I was a child, my grandmother showed me her hair things and beads and jewelry she had as a child and she was born in appx. 1905. She also showed me her mother's things that she still had. There was a tendency back then to break them down and safe the beads for repurposing butI remember seeing combs like this that were her mother's who was born in 1870's and would have worn them through the turn-of-the-century.
