Floris Meydam of Leerdam Glass, a Unikat(one of a kind).---An important modern Dutch glass vase, circa 1950.-----------The vase is 8 inches H x 6 inches L x 3 inches W and approx. 5 lb.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------(From the British Museum):Floris Meydam was an important director and glass worker/potter; Dutch; Life dates 1919-2011 Biography:Glass maker and designer. Born in the town of Leerdam itself, Meydam went through the trade school system as a glass maker, starting work at Leerdam in 1935.In 1943 he became a trainee at the Leerdam Glass School, where he was appointed teacher in 1944, joining the design department at the same time. He was chief designer at Leerdam Glass Factory, Holland.
