Loet Vanderveen (American/Dutch 1921-2015), Ceramic and Bronze Recumbent Horse
circa 1980, signed "Loet" to underside.
7 x 12 1/2 x 4 3/4 in.
Before turning exclusively to bronze in 1985, Vanderveen studied the challenging art of reduced glazes with a master ceramicist in New York. He would move to Big Sur in California with his partner and artist, Alba Hayward, where they built a large ceramic studio and here he spent formative years creating ceramic sculptures of animals with bronze elements.
