Description
1859 1ed The Secret Out 1000 Card Tricks Conjuring Magic Frikell HOUDINI
Written by the esteemed German magician, Wiljalba Frikell, this rare and fascinating treatise teaches the reader how to do a myriad of card tricks and other illusions.
A true master of dexterity and sleight of hand, Frikell performed magic beginning at the age of 16 until his first retirement at the age of 59. He allowed his audience to stand much closer than what was normative at the time and dressed in simple evening attire as opposed to the, then popular, flowing robes and flashy clothing other magicians performed in. Notably, Harry Houdini greatly respected Frikell and believed him to be a pioneer in both sleight of hand and presentation. As a result, Houdini had desired to interview Frikell but narrowly missed locating him following his death. A surviving picture of Houdini standing in front of the deceased Frikells estate still exists today.
His book The Secret Out contains numerous instructional illustrations throughout depicting card tricks and other similar forms of illusory magic.
