Description
Thomas, Berkley Reed. THE SCHOOL OF FLORA. A COLLECTION OF FACTS. ON THEORIES AND PRACTICE OF MEDICINE, FROM THE WRITINGS OF DR. SAMUEL THOMSON; DR. SAMUEL ROBINSON; DR. RUSH… PRESENTED TO THE CITIZENS OF GEORGIA, FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE AFFLICTED. Washington, GA: Printed at the "News" Office, 1835. 7.75" x 5". 96 pp., in original printed wrappers. ***************** Apparently the sole edition of this extremely scarce work on medicinal plants. The work comments upon theories and practices of various medical figures of the day, including Samuel Thomson whose "Thomsonian" System of natural remedies (mainly purging) is discussed here. The work is presented to the General Assembly of Georgia, who is urged by the author to "repeal the Medical Bill." This curious book is exceeding scarce. We trace no other copies extant. * Provenance: From the collection of a Washington, GA bibliographer and historian.
