Rhode Island,b.1939
Depicts Celtics legend Larry Bird LaMontagne with thin mustache, prominent nose, and focused look gracing his face. studied at the Worcester Academy and Boston College, although is widely self taught. Well known for his realistic life size depictions of New England sport legends, LaMontagne is an accomplished craftsman as well. In the 1970's, LaMontagne made a 17th Century reproduction of a turned oak Brewster chair, soaking it in saltwater to age it. The Henry Ford Museum purchased it believing it to be real until LaMontagne admitted to making it.
Bronze,Approx. 21" t x 13" w x 13 1/2" d.
Signed and numbered "Armand LaMontagne 50/50" to back of bust.
