Description
East Asia, China, Han Dynasty, ca. 206 BCE to 220 CE. A lovely pottery bowl with a curved handle in the form of a zoomorph, all enveloped in a lustrous glaze of mottled emerald, pine, and mint hues with a sparkling iridescence. Resting on a planar base with a petite foot at the front, the dish displays thick walls that rise to a slightly square, flared rim surrounded by a raised band on the exterior. The handle resembles a bird - perhaps intended as a phoenix - with a pointed beak, petite ears, and a long neck. Size: 6.5" W x 4.4" H (16.5 cm x 11.2 cm)
