Description
Saddlebag’s was actively used by nomad people due to regularly moves between the areas. This unique bagface represent the ancient culture of the Qashqai tribe living 100 years ago in southern eastern Persia. The Qashqai’s (Ghashghai, Kashgai) are tribes people from the Fars Province in southwest Persia in a confederation of different tribes. These bag’s for use on horses and camels were commonly made with a long center bridge with a slit down the center. In addition, these are normally woven in one long piece. First the face for one pouch was woven, then a long section that formed the back and center bridge, then the second pouch face. Furthermore, the bag was assembled by folding each end panel inward. Then stitching along the sides. Qashqai saddlebag rugs are typically feature dark reds, saffron golds, and rich blues. These colorful jewel tone rug colors were available to the ancient tribes with vegetable-based dyes, and today they are still often incorporated into the design despite the availability of a wider range of dyes. Traditionally, the Qashqai tribes wove the designs into the antique rugs from memory, without the help of a pattern to copy.
