Keith Allen HaringHe was an artist and social activist whose work reflects the spirit of the pop generation and the New York street culture of the 1980s. Birth, death, love, sex, war are recurring themes in the work of the.In 1980 he began doing graffiti, drawing cartoon images with felt-tip pen on New York subway billboards. It was later followed by cartoons drawn with white chalk on the black panels of the subway reserved for advertising. Haring mentioned: I accidentally noticed a black panel on the subway that was empty. I used to take the subway almost daily to work, I saw this black panel and immediately thought that this was the perfect place to draw. He was arrested multiple times for damaging public property. His first solo show was at the Tony Shafrazi Gallery in New York in 1982.The word “In the style of” is used for a work by an unknown creator who has created a copy of a known work by the named artist.
