Description
A dramatic original photo of the damage caused by the April 18, 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire. The Fulton House stands to the right while the rest of the street has been reduced to rubble. The smoke at the far end of the street portends the fires that would ravage the remains for days. 22 1/2 x 19 1/2 inches, medium oak frame. No photographer noted, framing done by Schussler Bros., 326 Grove Street. 1906 & 1907 business directories list the Fulton House at 1611 Tonquin, which is near Fisherman's Wharf; but the Fulton House is on Fulton near Clayton. The photograph can be found on the website "wandering-through-time-and-place.com" with no attribution.
