PROVENANCE:
From Private estate collections of Mrs. Ilene A. Champeau, (1943-present), For over 35 years, she shared her love of history as the owner of Victorian Lady Antiques. She also spent several years teaching a course in Antique Collecting at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton. She always loved sharing her knowledge with anyone who was interested. Her collection and knowledge of Native American and Chinese artifacts was extensive the wealth of her information will be missed by many. These items consigned are From the heirs of Irene Champeau as part of the settlement of the estate. Proceeds will benefit charities specified in her will.
Dimensions:
Divine Ming Dynasty JiaJing Period blue and white pear vase. A Substantial rotund body with rounded shoulders converging into a slender neck, with a slightly concave foot base. The exterior is delicately decorated with wrapped floral and tendrils . Banded with tropical leafs on the colar and auspicious pattern on the neck. The underside foot rim left unglazed, with pale-creme base spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim. The receded base left white underglaze. The clay is fine and exquisite, the glaze smooth, brilliant with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous. Mark on base, a vertical six underglaze blue script -KaiShu- characters enclosed within double fine rings, JiaJing Reign Period of Great Ming.
