Description
Pacific Northwest Coast, United States or Canada, likely Tlingit or Haida, ca. 1940's. A hand-carved cedar wood miniature totem pole with the iconic formline style zoomorphic and anthropomorphic beings. Some identifiable creatures are birds including a thunderbird (eagle) at the top, an orca with a circular face just before the fin, and a bear or human grasping a fish. To the indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest, the thunderbird represents power, strength, and protection. Size: 2.25" W x 11.75" H (5.7 cm x 29.8 cm)
