Description
A mid-century wind-up pocket watch in a sliding black leather case. The bezel of the watch is gilt. Square white clock face with baton indexes and Arabic numerals, inscription Friars Club, In Honor of Sammy Davis Jr. 1966, Swiss Made. Hallmark US Pat. 2640668, US Pat. 2719402, Made in Germany, is on the side of the bezel. There is a suspension ring on the side. The Friars Club is a private club in New York City for comedians and celebrities, it gained its popularity in the 1950s. Sammy Davis Jr., 1925 to 1990, was an American singer and comedian. The watch was presumably manudactured to celebrate the launch of the artists own variety show titled The Sammy Davis Jr. Show. Collectible Clocks Watches Memorabilia.
