Olive Logan, Actress & Feminist, Lecture Ticket on Women's Suffrage
A small card, measuring 2" x 3.25", n.p., dated November 15, 1870. A ticket for actress and author Olive Logan's lecture "The Bright Side." With a photo reproduction of a portrait painting of Logan on the front, along with a reproduction of her signature. On verso are details of the event. Minor corner bumping and light toning throughout. Very good.
Olive Logan (1839-1909) was an American actress, author, and feminist. Apart from her work in the theater, Logan was involved in public speaking on social and political subjects. Several of these lectures were on women's suffrage. In her lecture "The Bright Side", she argued that "there are so many who keep the dark side of the woman's suffrage question before the people that I am compelled to show the bright side. I will conquer my repugnance to this gloomy subject, and will endeavor to see whether there is not a cheerful side to the question…"
