Ca. 1900-1700 BC.A square-shaped clay tablet, written in cuneiform. The inscriptions on the tablet refer to administrative and legal affairs. Cuneiform script is one of the oldest types of writing, originated in the Middle East around 3500 BC. The name comes from the shape of the marks imprinted on small clay tablets with a piece of a wedge-tipped reed. Its creation was related to the administrative and economic needs of the developing civilization.Size: L:35mm / W:35mm ; 35gProvenance: Property of a London collector, acquired from a London Ancient Art dealer; formerly in a collection of a deceased gentleman circa 1988 by descent to the family.
