Description
Dottie West Solid 14k Yellow Gold Nameplate Necklace W/COA - Dottie West was known as the ?Country Sunshine? girl after writing and recording a song of that title for a Coca-Cola commercial. The red haired beauty helped launch the careers of Larry Gatlin and Steve Wariner and was often thought of a country music sex symbol. Her roller coaster career path saw her rise from the depth of poverty to worldwide success, only to plummet into a life of drugs, booze and bankruptcy. West became the first female country artist to win a Grammy Award in 1965 for her self-penned ?Here Comes My Baby? that also became a top ten hit. After her Grammy Award she was invited to join the Grand Ole Opry, a recognition of respect within the male-dominated country music hierarchy. Dottie West?s is often credited as enabling other female artists to gain control over the directions of the careers. In 1990, West ran into personal and financial difficulty. She divorced her third husband that year and filed for bankruptcy shortly thereafter. The IRS seized her property and put it up for auction including the contents. This 14K solid yellow gold ?Dottie? nameplate necklace was among those items auctioned by the IRS after West could not repay over $1 million in tax debts and is accompanied by a signed COA from The Legends Collection. West died in 1991 from injuries sustained in a car accident.
