Autographed sentiments from Sir John Bowring; the first mounted on cream paper and bearing the quote “Man’s universal motherhood” with signature and the second a signed pass admitting its bearer into the House of Commons on 10 May 1844. Largest, 64 x 121 mm. Old folds, some staining. Sir John Bowring was a British writer, economist, and the fourth governor of Hong Kong.
