2 Cotton Ikat Tubular Sarongs, Lembata And Flores, Indonesia, Early-Mid 20th C. One from the Atadei region of Lembata with handspun cotton, natural dyes and warp ikat, with three woven pieces sewn together. The majority of Lembata sarongs from this region are opened on reaching the market. It is less common to find one it its original unopened state. The other sarong called Zawo nggaja sendetu from Ende Flores with elephant and patola-derived floral motif. This tubeskirt belongs to a special subgroup with the arrow-like timbu motif jutting into the main body from the seam. Sizes: 1) 61'' x 22'' (155 x 56 cm) to 71'' x 28'' (180 x 71 cm).
