A Cast-Bronze Candlestick Holder in the Form of a Dragon
Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
The three-clawed dragon lying on its back with its serpentine body and tail rising upwards, one claw holding a circular base for the candlestick; signed with a stamped signature Toun iru with a kao within a rectangular reserve.

Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
The three-clawed dragon lying on its back with its serpentine body and tail rising upwards, one claw holding a circular base for the candlestick; signed with a stamped signature Toun iru with a kao within a rectangular reserve.

Condition
Including but not limited to the following:
A long irregular crack (probably due to original casting occlusion) of approx. 13cm long along the body on the left side of the body; a probable more recent but minor curved crack of approx. 4.5cm to the right, both visible only from the a certain angle only. Several areas where the patina is uneven or has rubbed, most noticeably beneath the signature. Tips to the spikes a little dented here and there from a long time ago. Usual wear, particularly on the underside of the feet, and surface scratches consistent with age. Aforementioned not distracting. A very presentable piece and in decorative order.
