Purportedly, this vase and eleven similar examples were prepared by Weller Pottery for the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.

Vase features a man and woman embracing near horses in a winter landscape. The unusual color array on this work is reminiscent of the Northern Lights. Impressed manufacturer's mark to underside 'Weller' with incised artist's name on side 'E.L Pickens'.
