A Queen Anne carved mahogany tall case clock Aaron Miller (died c. 1779), Elizabeth Town, New Jersey, circa 1750-1760

The hood with flat cornice, turned columns, and arched door, the case with arched door and molded base, the brass face decorated with applied spandrels depicting dolphins and masques, the boss engraved, "Aaron Miller."

includes two weights, pendulum (not original, evidence of another pendulum at some point in time), case key; works: retain wooden winding drums; case: veneered throughout, some of which is puckering and splitting from age, bottom board and lower base moldings replaced, lost feet; hood: spandrel veneer is replaced, probably originally had sarcophagus top, may have had fret at some point; the works and case likely didn't start out life together; as with all mechanical objects, Freeman's does not guarantee functionality.Â
