Description
A gentlemen's 18ct gold Omega 'Constellation' mechanical bracelet watch, c.1970, A gentlemen's 18ct gold Omega 'Constellation' mechanical bracelet watch, c.1970, inspired by the Andrew Grima 'About Time' collection. A square cut cornered case, 28mm diameter, with a brushed champagne dial, quarter batons and black lacquered hands. A deep bevelled synthetic sapphire crystal, with textured and incised case decoration, with a cabochon tiger's eye crown. An integral twisted hoop and knot link bracelet, with an adjustable ladder clasp with decorated cover. Import hallmark London 1973. No. 711.1856. 94.94g Hand engraved initials to the case back C.J.E. Case, Omega case, no outer box or papers. 170mm long This case has not been opened. In 1969, Omega commissioned Anglo-Italian jewellery designer Andrew Grima to design a collection of watches - the 'About Time' collection. The collection was released in 1970 at Goldsmiths Hall in London to great acclaim. Signature Grima elements include the use of textured gold, unconventional stones and powerful sculptural design. Based on the success of this range, Omega later produced their own designs inspired by Andrew Grima’s collection. Buying this second-hand wristwatch could save up to 0.8 tonnes of CO2e compared to buying new. Condition Report: Replacement crown/original in the case, but the same. Scratches to the glass. Winds and ticking but no guarantee as to time keeping or continued running. Light surface marks commensurate with its age. Clasp secure. Tarnish to case back. Hands adjust and move correctly. This case has not been opened as there appears to be a hairline fracture to one of the screw tabs to the back of the case.
