Description
The lot features a Southern Plains beaded Strike-A-Lite pouch with forged stiker. The pouch or bag is comprised of dyed brown harness saddle leather with geometric beadwork along the front and rolled tin jingle dangle cones across the flap and bottom edge. The bag has two long strips of Indian tanned buckskin fringes with tin cone danglers hanging down off the bottom. The flap shows beadwork and tin cones as well as a classic Southern Plains large silver concho / concha button attached with hand-stippled roll engraved four-point morning star along the fringe. The beadwork is all old glass trade seed beads in chalk white, cobalt and semi-transparent rose. The original forged iron flint striker is included which is a 19th Century example. The bag itself appears to be an early example with exact age unknown. The piece is likely Southern Cheyenne or Comanche and is in well preserved condition. Pouch measures 6.5 inches (not including the long fringes) long by 3 inches wide.
