Description
Milo Winter (1913-2002). Watercolor, 15 1/4" x 22 1/2". Signed. Unframed. Milo Winter came from a pedigreed artistic heritage and excelled in art school at the Rhode Island School of Design and Cranbrook Academy. For a time, he taught in Maine and this Monhegan Light water color is an excellent example of his skill and originality. A significant landmark, “Monhegan” means “faraway island” in the tongue of the Penobscot Indians, who for centuries rowed the long distance out to the island to fish and hunt for whales.
