18K yellow gold and Tanzanite pendant-brooch, measuring 55 x 43mm, in a multi-level, open work tree design with branches encircling a bezel set cushion cut tanzanite, measuring approx 9.5 x 7.5 x 5.2mm and weighing approx 2.87 cts. The stone is of a violet-blue color, dark tone, vivid saturation, good cutting with fair polish and good brilliance. The open areas of the branches are decorated with a granulation technique, known in John Paul Miller's work. The brooch is stamped with the mark of John Paul Miller. As a pendant, it suspends from a removable gold bale, also decorated with granulation, attached to a black cord, with a cone shaped hook and eye style clasp. Weighed as a brooch, apprx 28.5 grams overall.
