AN WWII ERA CZECH STUDIO PORTRAIT TAILBOARD CAMERA, EMIL WACHTL, PRAGUE, MID 1930s-JULY 1943, brass, mahogany, beech, and leather bellows, enameled name plate affixed, "FOTO WACHTL." Height: 25 1/2" Width: 22 1/4" Depth: 9" Note: Emil Wachtl (1880-1942) Czech photography entrepreneur and enthusiast, dedicated his life to educating the public on the joys of cinema and photography in Prague. He enjoyed inspiring others to love photography as a hobby. Emil Wachtl with his wife, Ignacie Wachtlova, and their two children Eva and Otto Wachtl were transported July 20, 1942 to Terezin concentration camp, and then to Baranovichi in modern day Belarus, whereupon they were murdered. The last known logo for his Czech photography equipment company appears on this camera.
Condition
