Guto Ajayu began his artistic career as a graffiti artist, with an aesthetic inspired by the op art movement, his works are defined by irony and the use of vibrant colours. An aesthetic defined as an Andean pop art movement, since he normally introduces iconography of pre-Columbian tradition in his works. To better understand his work it is interesting to rescue the words of the artist himself. "I am Guto Ajayu, the last son of the sun. Spiritual heir of the Andean empires. The ancestral philosophy and the sacred symbols of antiquity are part of my upbringing, my life and my roots. I feel the need to recover this whole paradigm and present it with a contemporary perspective. I have always been a rebel, so I am addicted to the freedom that urban art gives me and I feel the need to use popular objects and symbols in my art. All this maelstrom resulted in my art, which is the mixture of ancient symbolism with intense and wild colours. The sacred meaning of the past has a new meaning for me, which I haven't discovered yet".
He has had numerous exhibitions throughout his career, both as a group and solo artist. Highlights include two solo exhibitions in Madrid (2019 and 2018), and another in Paris in 2020. He has also participated in numerous international art fairs in Spain, France, Switzerland, Holland, Hong Kong and Luxembourg." In addition to being the creator of the cultural publishing label Guto Ajayu Ediciones, where he has carried out the cultural projects of the book "Gran Anuario de arte contemporáneo Internacional.
