Renoir responds to his correspondent new year´s greetings `Chère Aimée, chère Julie, Cher Jean, cher Man, Je réponds à vos vœux de bonne année par une pensée Pascale, quel plaisir ce sera de vous voir à Paris´ (`Dear Aimée, dear Julie, dear Jean, dear Man, I respond to your new year greetings with an Easter thought, what a pleasure i twill be to see you in Paris´) Renoir further announces great news saying `Une grande nouvelle : Je suis grand-père, un petit fils John né à Boston le 27 Décembre dernier´ (`Great news : I am a grandfather, a grandson called John was born in Boston last 27th December´) Further again, and to a postscriptum, Renoir refers to Rome and to young boys very explicitly, stating `Rome est superbe.
