BARTHOLDI FREDERIC AUGUSTE: (1834-1904) French sculptor, the designer of the Statue of Liberty ('Liberty Enlightening the World'). A.N.S., with his initials, to one side of his and his wife's personal printed oblong 12mo Visiting Card, Rue d'Assas, n.d., in French. Beneath the Bartholdi's printed name at the centre of the card the sculptor has penned a brief note, 'aurient le plaisir de se rendre tous deux an diner de la marinete (?) le 19 avril' (Translation: 'would both have the pleasure of going to dine at La Marinete (?) on 19th April').
