Description
Orrefors EDWARD HALD Fish Graal Aquarium Heavy Cased Glass Orrefors Edward Hald Graal Fish Vase. The Fishgraal technique was invented in the 1930's by Edward Hald for Orrefors Sweden. This highly sought-after piece consists of clear glass decorated with a school of fish swimming in underwater flora and seaweed overlayed with a thick clear glass layer. The technique creates a 3-D appearance with the fish swimming at different depths. This piece is estimated to have been hand crafted (mouth-blown) in the 1950s. Hand signed (incised) on underside with: "Orrefors Sweden Graal Nr 108E Edward Hald". This design is featured in the collections of notable museums including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Brooklyn Museum and the Corning Museum of Glass in New York.
