Three Bes-Ben Hats, 1950-60s

This lot contains three hats.

THE FIRST
Grey woven plastic horsehair braid that has been stitched in the round to create a interior crown and a wide brim. The hat is embellished with fabric flowers and fauna. The crown is edged with grey velvet and a elastic strap secures the hat to the head.

THE SECOND
Woven straw wide-brim hat edged with yellow wide plastic horsehair braid. The hat is embellised with green and pink satin bows, attached interior wire headband, and pink fabric flower decoration.

THE THIRD
Feather embellished long band of black velvet ribbon that is lined with black grosgrain. Between these layers of ribbon are stitched brown and multicolored feathers. Exactly how this item is worn remains uncertain as there are two black grosgrain ribbons on the interior that are broken with some loss.

Condition

Condition:THE FIRST The overall condition is good with minor losses to the velvet vine decoration as well as minor wear to the petals on the flower details. THE SECOND The overall condition is good with slight wear to the attached velvet headband and minor discoloration throughout the flower decoration.THE THIRD The overall condition is good with only small holes throughout some of the feathers and two internal black grosgrain ribbons have broken with what appears to be some loss. Everything is sold 'As Is'. The stated overall condition of the lot is based on the assumption that the wear is consistent with age and use. The absence of any reference to the condition of a lot does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections, or the effects of aging.
