Description

Erik Ploen (Norwegian, 1925-2004). A set of two (2) Scandinavian art pottery platter trays. Earthenware bodies produced in oblong forms with deep central basins. Colorfully hand decorated with figural images, one depicting a medieval knight or Viking figure, the other with an allegorical or religious depiction of shepherd figure and lamb, the figure with halo nimbus. Each signed to underside PLOEN MADE IN NORWAY. From the Chicago estate of American gallerist and philanthropist Maria McCormick (1937-2021).

Dimensions: 2.25 X 17 X 10 in.

Condition: Good to fair overall condition having normal surface wear, with areas of pitting to both pieces, most notably on Viking platter. Estate fresh to the market.
